Asilata Karandikar is a PhD student at Centre for Information Technology and Public Policy, and the Web Science Lab, at IIIT Bangalore. Prior to joining here, she taught Political Science at Wilson College, Mumbai, and has also worked as a Research Associate at the Centre for Enquiry into Health and Allied Themes, Mumbai. Her current project deals with questions of privacy and consent from a social-contractual perspective.
Bhoomika is a PhD student in Web Science Lab. She holds MTech in Computer Science and Engineering from Visveswaraya Technological University. Prior to joining IIITB she worked as an Assistant Professor at B.M.S college of Engineering and Presidency University, Bangalore with a total 6.5 years of teaching experience. Her areas of interests include Web mining, Semantic Web and Machine Learning.
I am a Doctoral Researcher in Data Science working at the intersection of intervention modeling, policy analytics, and sustainable development. My research focuses on moving beyond descriptive dashboards towards prescriptive, stability-aware policy support systems that aid policymakers translate data into actionable, context-sensitive interventions.

17 Nov 2024 Pooja Bassin attended the ‘Navigating India’s Climate Future: Launch of a Climate Data Set for India‘ event at the Bangalore International Centre organized by Azim Premji University. Prof. Rajeevan Madhavan Nair former secretary, MoES India and Prof. VK Dadhwal, former director Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, ISRO were part of a panel discussion involving topics on climate change, environment, policy & regulation, and sustainability.
10 June 2024 Workshop on Web Science for Development (WS4D) was successfully conducted at IIITB. The theme of the workshop was Digital Public Infrastructures.

She holds a M.Tech in Computer & Information Science and B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from Cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT), Cochin. She has been working at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), Bangalore since 2009. She has worked on the design and development of systems based on Natural Language Text Processing and Knowledge Management technologies. Currently she is working on semantic summarization from user generated text reports. Her research interests include: Natural Language Text Processing with emphasis on Information Extraction and summarization, Knowledge Representation and Machine Learning.
